Native American Love Flutes from River Cane or Bamboo By James Gilliland For all of you who have been looking for low keyed cane flutes-Here they are!
James R. Gilliland, a Native American artist and flute maker for 15 + years from the hills of North Alabama retired from the Space Shuttle Program. He uses his engineering skills and Native American heart to create a flute that sings.
|
James has mastered the art of working with cane and bamboo combining traditional methods with new technology to craft these flutes. He creates for us the hard-to-find lower keys. He use only the finest material, taking the flute through a journey. Each flute is heat-treated, hand scraped, the inside cleaned and sanded, cut to the correct length and the placement of the playing holes calculated. The playing holes and the reed are burned into the flute using traditional methods. Each playing hole is tuned using a digital tuner. After the flute is completed, it is impregnated with lacquer with a vacuum/pressure process. After the lacquer is cured, the flute is then sprayed with up to 5 coats of clear lacquer and then waxed with carnauba wax for lasting protection. These flutes will have a very traditional sound that no wooden flute can duplicate. See keys and pricing below.

"Finally someone understands the physics of the flute. I love the sound quality of Wood Sounds flutes. They are strong and have the attributes I look for; they feel phenomenal. I'll be playing one at every concert."
