New Solid Bore Wood Flutes  By James Gilliland We've had the pleasure of offering Jim Gilliland flutes for many years, but what is really cool, is that they just keep getting better! Award winning flute maker James Gilliland, is famous for his traditional cane and bamboo flutes, and holds the honor of having the first flute travel into space. Now, he has ventured more into crafting solid bore wood flutes. As a Native American James is very proud of his achievement and further shows his respect by creating these exceptional quality flutes to share with you. To craft his wood flutes, Jim begins with a solid block of the selected wood. This block is then bored on a large gun drilling machine and hand turned on a lathe. This produces a flute of exceptional quality. Each of the quality flutes produced by Jim is electronically concert tuned and checked for pitch, tonal quality, finish and appearance.
